Maserati Ghibli versus Audi A7/S7

Did you consider the Audi A7/S7 before buying the Maserati Ghibli? I am cross shopping both cars and depends if I can fit scuba gear in the Maserati and boxes.

I was down to those two choices and went with the Ghibli. The trunk is very big, and with the folding seats I have not had any issues with the cargo room. The A7 is a solid car, but in my opinion it does not have the cool factor that the Maserati delivers.

That's s good to know ! I'd much rather have the unique style and fun factor than the me too common car. Here in California I see Audis BMW everywhere they are as common as Hondas and Toyotas! My only real concern at this point is long term reliability as I have read on forums the many issues that owners have faced with their new Ghiblis. Hopefully Maserati has addressed these problems with the 2016 cars. Then again I'm also cross shopping the less expensive but very fun new Mercedes GLA45 AMG car which has its teething issues as well.

Ok how is insurance cost on the Ghibli. The insurance on the Audis is very expensive more so than the Mercedes and BMW.

I also looked at the wonderful Porsche Panamera but I'm not crazy about the looks. Nothing looks as sexy as the Ghibli for under 100k.

I'm going to test drive on this week. I've driven Quattroportes and Maserati Gransport coupes in the past. How is the performance compare to the more expensive models?

My insurance doubled with progressive, I switched to Geico and it went up 10% even with going to 300/500K coverage. I have a good driving record and good credit, so I was surprised to see the jump with progressive. I will deal with some reliability quirks for the awesome driving experience the Maserati delivers. I have had numerous people almost hit me on the interstate, while trying to get a picture of the car. When I valet, my car is always parked in the front (even over the 100K Mercedes and Audi's).

Totally agree. I can buy a base Maserati Ghibli for under 70k same price as a base Audi A7. I am surprised at why Audi cost so much money? What is so special about a rebranded VW car?

Mentioning a rebranded VW......

There are a lot of Chrysler parts in the Ghibli.

True it is all relative. VW/Audi is part of Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti so sharing is common.

Maserati shares now with Chrysler, Fiat and Ferrari.

I drove a new Ghibli today and will post my thoughts. Overall a sweet car and great bang for the money compared to the more expensive Audis and Mercedes.

I was having Famers, when I bought my Ghibli the insurance went up crazy almost double for multi cars policy. I got a quote from AAA which is only a slightly higher than my current rate and with higher coverage too.
shop around for insurances guys.

I've had State Farm for years and they have been decent so will call them tomorrow to get rates for the Maserati and compare against the MB and Audi cars I'm looking at.

Other than U-Connect, which is shared across multiple FCA platforms (which is a blessing given that its award winning and would best any Italian infotainment attempt), and a few cabin switches here and there, what else is comes from Chrysler? Be careful because I know the answer...
