Engine Auto stop/start

Hi,

I recently took delivery of my Petrol Ghibli and the Engine auto stops and starts at junctions just like my old BMW diesel. The little green A light comes on in the speedo etc.

How can I turn this off? I know it will be on every time I start the car but I want to know how to flick it off once I get in?

Cheers

Ben

Ordered brand new Ghibli V6 - Bianco and Rosso! Due Sept 15.

The function is accessible via the screen between the instruments. Use the controls on the right hand side of the steering wheel to scroll through the menus and you will find the function with instructions how to disable. it should remain disabled unless I am told you select ICE mode.

It does not remain disabled. It is re-enabled every time the car is started (MY16, US petrol version). Does anyone know if there's a way to permanently disable this "feature"?

I am having the opposite problem whereby my Stop Start won't activate. I know this would be everyone else's dream but my MPG is not very good (around 35MPG). I plan to take back to my dealer to have it checked out. I think it may have something to do with my car takes around 20-25 mins to warm up (temp gauge to centre of dial). This might be a stuck open thermostat. Not sure if it's related or not.
Back to disabling the stop start, it is annoying that there isn't a button on the dash like my Audi. Instead you have to go through settings on your dash board (which you also need to be in Park position before this works) and switch it off only to find it comes back on again the next time you switch the car back on. I have never tried switching mine off. I will have a go and see if it comes back on next time I start the car. If it doesn't then the PO has had it disabled somehow.

Update on my car, I've switched off Stop Start and driven it ad restarted it a few times. On the dash it stills says that it's been switched off. So it's not resetting itself when I restart the car. I think the PO must have disabled it somehow?

Hi Superdave,
35MPG, you must have a Diesel, and you think this is poor.... This is what I get on Mway, maybe slightly more but not much. France limit 130km/hr (~80MPH)
But overall is way below that more like 28-30MPG. Maserati figures are B...T way out.

Leave Start an stop off, it is best, mine is de-activated for good, this is an ANTI-Mechanical device, that wears your accessories, and engine quicker, not talking about the turbo, having to start and stop the whole time, we are lucky we have a ceramic ball bearing turbo which is pretty bullet proof.

But believe me, as a mechanical engineer, my advice is leave this SS OFF, shame it shows an orange logo on the dash, but you get use to it.
