Trim piece under steering wheel?

Does any one have a pic or can verify that a piece goes there above the pedals? It appears like it should have something there, but my car does not and I haven't had a chance to look at any others.

Thanks!

in some countries, it is closed by a trim plastic, because the Knee-Airbag is not installed or Optional

in our case, we have the Knee-Airbag, the square black box, and so it is open.
