Carbon fiber cracked on center console

Does anybody know if this is a common issue or what the cause is?

I have a ‘14 SQ4. There are a few cracks on the CF center console. 2 around the gear shifter and 1 on the cup holder lid. They’re not fine cracks, they run from one end to the other. Either the trim piece expands with heat or the previous owner put weight on it.

I’m thinking about wrapping it, used replacement(no cracks) is running $1200. Does anyone know of a fake carbon fiber wrap that looks similar or should I just get a silver aluminum wrap to match the shifter bezel?

I found a cheaper one (Chinese imitation) online. It's a stick on overlay. Looks good in my opinion.
Try aliexpress.
