A step forward, yet a step back..

Just curious if anyone has gone from a Ghibli to a Granturismo yet and if the GT (lack of)tech drove you mad... that my biggest hangup otherwise I'd be counting down the days until I can return my Ghibli and take a step forward. Maybe I just need to wait until they come out with the new GT... but I won't hold my breath....

For the record, I'm almost at 2 years of ownership (12k miles) on my '15 Ghibli and minus a couple minor issues (usb in center console didn't work, has been fixed / easy entry seems to have a mind of its own at times), the car has been an extremely reliable performer as my daily driver, even in the poor weather conditions. Seems we mostly only hear about issues on the forum, so just wanted to share my very positive Maserati ownership experience thus far. I was honestly a bit concerned with reliability, but my black beauty has been a stallion. I hope I get this lucky with my next Maserati...

ps Does anyone else hate the new trim badges and trident on the refreshed Ghiblis? looks cheap, yuck...

I've held out on the GT-MC since I bought the Ghibli in 2014.

I went in all set to buy a really nice GT-S ... and sound is way better than Ghibli ... but the interior electronics were so dated. I did a 180 and ordered a new Ghibli SQ4.

Each year, I've been tempted when they drop the GT-MC's $40-50K to make the move ... but just like you I'm waiting for the newer version (or Alfieri if it ever happens).

Only downside ... this might be the last GT generation of the hand builts. The high end and new limited edition versions are approaching $170K ... which I wouldn't pay.

Why not a quattro?
Also on my 2017 the trident looks like the old ones assuming the different trident comes as a package/add on ?

yeah my sentiments exactly, that exhaust sound is intoxicating and the GT-S styling is timeless and i'm not gonna lie, i love the pininfarina badge - to me, it's a reminder of how special this car really is, along the lines of your hand made comment. Any idea what engine they plan to use in the new GT or is it too soon to tell?

@1xRYD3Rx1 just not a fan of the QP, too big for me. And those tridents i'm talking about are on the new models that have the added tech...i forget exactly what they do.... but it looks plastic! granted, i haven't actually seen it in person yet, so maybe it looks better up close

What added tech are you talking about?

Found a video of the trident. Looks really cheap.

the GT is amazing, the body style and the exhaust sound is just perfect,i agree the tech is not great but the seats and steering wheel is fantastic, once you sit in the GT and enjoy that lovely exhaust note you wont even care about the tech in the car if i could give my car to get a GT i would do it right away.

and yea the new badge looks horrible

Not communicated yet. All speculation on the twin turbo 3.8L V8 around 523 hp used in the newer QP GTS platform. I might be wrong, but without the V8 it will be near impossible, if not impossible to achieve, the depth and raspiness of the GT-S / GT-MC exhaust. If it was possible you would see more of our Ghibli's V6 twin turbo's have that sound with aftermarket additions.

I wonder if anyone has compared the exhaust sound between the current V8 turbo engine in the QP versus the GT's natural V8? Or in other words, if they put the V8 turbo in the new GT, will the exhaust sound better (I'd assume, maybe?), worse (because of the turbos?), or just as good as the current GT?

I´ve seen the new badges on the Levante and they were explained to me as part of the cruise distance control / stop and go system which is an option, as far as I know. I think the sensors are hidden behind the new Trident logo - and, yes: I also think that they do not look good and create a cheap look.

I´m happy with the Trident on my ´15 Ghibli.
