My pride and joy just died stranded!!

Morning all
Apologies in advance for the negative element to this post.

I've owned my lovely 2015 Ghibli S for 18months with mo issues whatsoever ever . She has purred since day one with only a few minor radio issues but other than that it's a dream drive as you all know.

The only issue I would ever really complain about would be the northwest england maserati dealerships who are a little obtuse ,,, not rude but not helpful either .

On that note. I attempted to leave for work at 5am this morning , fired up the beast only to have her turn off within 2 seconds.

Odd , ok must be cold I'll fire her up again going through the usual resetting the ignition system etc.

Again same symptom, hmmmm she turned over fired fine, no rough idle no back fire just normal then died again (not a sputtering stall just a turn off)

Right this cant be good let's try a 3rd try.

This time turns over but doesnt fire up....

I'm guessing fueling issue but being so early and now late for work had to abandon the car and steal the wifes God awful mini club man.

I'm now away all day until the dark hours and it's also the weekend so no mechanics about.

Before I start down the path of sending her into a garage that will literally rape my wallet due to the trident being rolled into the shop, has anyone else had this issue?

Any advice welcome and gratefully appreciated.

With luck I'll be offering more positive advice in return very soon .

Andy

Mine did similar a couple of weeks ago but while driving. Got it recovered, and found a fuel pressure issue. Recovery mechanic asked if it had any fuel in it, said yes, an 1/8 of a tank and it says 50 miles of range..... He put 5 litres in and hey presto it fired up.

Thanks so much for the advice. I've spent the day with my diagnostic tool and have some codes that were thrown up.

U0129 . Lost comms with brake system control module

2 x UO101 Lost comms with TCM

I'm hoping it's just a battery issue as it was cold during that week of heavy rain in cheshire. However I have checked my fuel status and it's at 55miles so maybe a top up may resolve .

Fingers crossed but i hold little hope. I'm surprised if its battery as it's a daily drive and clears 80miles a day but who knows.

I'll keep people posted. Trying to gather as much info as possible to help anyone in the futue.

Cheers for the advice. Update again tomorrow

Do you have a battery charger?

I would add some high octane 93 grade fuel or better so you don’t have a low fuel warning and make sure you have a good battery and try again.

Brake and TCM Codes are pretty strange to occur at at the same time unless you went mudding or some in your Ghibli.

Nitro, thanks for the reply. Funny you should say that we've had major flooding in north England and I had to pass through a number of large puddles on the way home from work . Charger is on and going to throw some more high grade fuel l in her later .

Will post out come. Cheers for the advice as always . .

Nitro,, as a second thought your comment on going through mud with the car may throw up both codes, why would this be?

I'm just trying to rule out all issues as I go through my fault finding? I drove through the large puddle three days prior to the non starting issue and elapsed 100miles plus post event but maybe there is something in that theory.

*UPDATE*

Added 25litres of 97 octane fuel best I can get uk side. It's what I run her on anyway .

Charged her all night and day . Left this morning and was at 13V which hopefully should be perfect by the time I get home this evening.

I have spoken to maserati dealer . Tbh they were great very helpful , I explained the problem and they believe it's a battery issue .... I'm not convinced but hey im no mechanic.

As an update to my own investigations I sat in her last night and noticed that the 3 second buzzing noise wasnt there ( from experience I believe this is the fuel pump, I may be wrong)

To that end if she doesnt start later this evening I have mobile mechanic coming Monday,, hes not a maserati specialist but often works on lambo and Ferrari.

To add more pain to the situation. The steering lock is engaged so recovery is not an option. Maserati informed me that it wont release unless engine is running and was halted on 17plate models for that reason.

Time will tell . Fingers crossed.

Cheers for the help guys it is greatly appreciated.

I'll update as soon as I get home
Andy

Well just got home....... no joy. She turns over as normal with all gizmos working as they should . Just no fire up. Turns over nice and fast but nothing after.

I'm convinced it's a fuel issue. Now it's time to track down the correct fuses. Relay etc. 100% cant hear the fuel pump when I get in from a full unlock. Who knows. I will keep you all updated. All info and resolutions along the the way illl post.

Fingers crossed . Again!

Haven't had mine long enough to look for access, can you get a fuel pressure tester on it?

You can get one for $25 or $30, or AutoZone and the like may loan them out.
