Looking to buy another Ghibli

I remember reading somewhere that buying a used car that was originally purchased in NY or NJ a bad idea. Don't remember why.
I just found a bunch of cars available for sale at dealers in Illinois, and some of them are originally from NY/NJ, then sold at an auction in PA, now magically in IL.

Should I stay away from those? Carfax doesn't really show anything.

Thanks.

I don't think there is any across the board concern with NY/NJ cars ... they had one of the largest dealer networks for Maserati in US ... so many of these cars came through this area. Manheim, PA is a huge auction site for North America which takes in all kinds of cars, (lease, trade, and etc), ... they call it remarketing.

The only concern one might have is the condition of the roads in the area.

I myself had to drive 3+ hours from PA to NJ to pick up my Ghibli in early 2014 ... weren't many dealers back then.

Regardless of selling location or original vehicle registration you need to do a thorough inspection of any used Ghibli ... CarFax, dealer records for repairs, (watch for early lemons), and physical inspections. Some of the early cars were abused ... Ghibli's are not track or race cars ... more a touring car with great potential.

2016 SQ4 AWD, 20" rims, paddle shifters, premium sound, premium package, etc.

Only 14k miles for 39k. Sounds like a good deal?

Pulled the trigger but on a different car.
2014 S Q4 loaded, no 20" rims (which is probably better here in Chicago). Original price 89k. One owner.
26,000 miles, dealer maintained. White/black.

Price under 29k.

Still smells like a new car ...

I know it not 100% on who owned it before particularly when off lease and actioned. But it you have access to the car as I did open the navigation and hit home. You can at least see the address of home and through Google maps get a feeling of the owner. In my case it was an over 55 neighborhood outside of Miami. You can at least see the address and guess or if diligent find the owner on line for less than $10. Good luck....

slightly creepy.

if i were to acquire a used maserati and there was still warranty left, i'd be looking to re-up with additional CPO warranty time and mileage.
