2 Codes thrown yesterday...

198 Views 9 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  CatmanV2
Greetings all...I got into my 2014 SQ4 yesterday to go home & the engine light came on. After putting my code reader on, two codes came up:

1. P0128$07E8
Coolant thermostat
(Coolant temperature below thermostat
Regulating Temperature

2. P2400$07E8
Evap system leak
Detection pump
Control circuit Open

Can anyone give me an idea of what I'm looking at here before I call my Maserati dealership to set up an appointment?
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need a water pump, but can anyone give me a ballpark figure as to how much a job like this will cost? moneys kinda tight at this time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS- the 2 codes came up about 3 weeks ago & I topped off the coolant thinking that was the issue, cleared the codes and after 3 weeks, thought I was in the clear...thought I dodged a bullet.

I'd have thought a sticky thermostat more than a water pump. Failing water pump more likely to lead to overheating, in my experience. Yours appears to be running cold.

Evap system could be lots of things. Gas cap on tightly?

OK fair call! :) Is the gas door sealing tight?

Thank You Callie. I would like that very much. How do I do that?

I believe so...I understand they won't stay running if there not. The car runs fine-no problems other than the codes, but like I said previously, those codes were the second time they came up, so I'm concerned.

I test drove a used 2022 Ghibli Modena that pulled the P2407 a code during the pre-purchase inspection.
The used car dealer said it was the "cap for the oil was loose, caused the EVAP code"

I didn't buy from that independent dealer since I lost interest immediately. I ended buying from an authorized Maserati dealer.

Good call (by you, I suspect the dealer is talking BS)
