Consumer Reports take a quick first drive look at the 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The first thing that Consumer Reports notes is that this Maserati is built to be more attainable for more people. No longer do you have to spend upwards of $100,000 for a Maserati, the Ghibli starts at just $75,000.

The Ghibli has great steering feedback, and a nice interior with beautiful materials. The UConnect system which is sourced from Chrysler is a great infotainment system.

The most exciting thing about the car has to be the engine though. The engine is sourced from Ferrari and sounds amazing. The video gives you a great listen to the difference in the exhaust note between the normal driving mode and the sport mode.

Take a look at the video for yourself.

Didn't realize the exhaust note would change so much when you change between the different driving modes. Is that an all real sound or did Maserati use some type of fake sound system to make it sound beefier?

At least from what we can see, there nothing but the chrysler V6 from the chrysler parts bin, the rest is unique to Maserati. They could have easy cheaped out and used a lot of chrysler stuff, but they didn't. This review shows that.

Umm...the engine is made by Ferrari (on the petrol models at least) ....

Good to hear that the infotainment system is working well. So many vehicles get bad grades on that and it really sucks to have one that isn't working properly. Music, navigation, etc is annoying to not have working properly.

what i noticed is that infotainment matter a lot to people, more than some would think. it matters so much that as great as Cadillac's new vehicles are, it's CUE infotainment system is holding it's vehicles back from ranking better than they could.

You can do some research on the uconnect system at Chrysler which looks like a nice system and of course the Maserati has the top of the line model! Lots of features including text messaging but I could not get to the footnotes which will tell you which providers allow which features..................
