I just pressed the keyless start button to turn the car on. The engine didn't start but it makes a ticking noise. Also, the radio, dash, and everything else did turn on. Now, I can't even turn the accessory off. The car won't respond when I try to hit the keyless start button again to turn the **** car off. It is stuck in that stage but the engine isn't on. The car was involved in an accident no airbags deployed and the resistor at the battery is working properly.

I've checked for codes, these are the codes I've got.

U0028 Vehicle communication bus A
U0129 Lost communication with brake system control module
U0101 Lost communication with TCM

Any suggestions?

I've installed a new battery thinking that was the problem, but still same problem. No changes after the new battery.

Hum, this is interesting, I've been running into similar issues. Have you tried actually jumping the car from another running vehicle?

OK have you checked all the fuses?
Either a fuses or a connector somewhere.
TCM I reckon Transmission Control Module. Basically the gearbox computer and bits.
I'm afraid this might need a trip to the dealer

I checked all the fuses in the engine bay and next to the battery. They all seemed to be okay. I don't have a diagram of what each fuse is. Do you know where I could find one?

Could it be a immobilizer?
Where would they be located on the vehicle?

Its unlikely to be an immobilizer. Your error messages give what seem to be the problem. The comm bus has failed an lost comms with both the brake unit (BSCM) and transmission control module (TCM). The car needs to have inputs both from the brake pedal and other items to start. I don't have any info in the manuals beyond that.

Sorry I dont have specific details, but the erratic electronic issues sound similiar to the battery issues many of us have had. If you've replaced the battery and followed the manual procedure once the new battey is installed, then it's unlikely the battery, and you'll have to chase down where the Comm A buss is and repair or replace.

I don't have any details as to what is on Comm Bus A. But If the car doesn't know what the staus of half the systems are, such as ignition position, then it would explain the failure for you to turn it off.

My best guess.

-UPDATE

Thinking that maybe the key fob was not responded with the car I replaced the battery in the key fob. after doing so the car started with a high rev and ran for 5 secs and then died, so I attempted to re-start it and the same thing happened 2 more times, then on the fourth attempt it didn't want to crank anymore and I would get a warning on the dash that the key fob is undetected but the key fob still worked to unlock and lock the car. the push to start is now responding to the stages of start and stop.

WHY WOULDNT THE CAR STAY RUNNING???

I'm gonna replace the battery in the key fob and see if I can get it to start again.
Maybe a new key fob will fix the problem???

Hi Dennis, didn't you try the other key fob?
You can easily measure the voltage of the Lithium battery, it should be over 3V.

Bizarre that the car does not keep running, if the key is outside the car and the engine is running, it should keep running but beeping saying it cannot see the key fob.

Unfortunately when I purchased the car I only received the one key fob. Therefore that is not an option. Unless I go the the dealer to make a new key.

Regarding the car not staying running, the car does not stay running long enough to walk away. The key fob is in the cup holder at every attemp of trying to start it.

Not likely to be your problem, but the remote start function will kill the engine if it doesn't idle correctly after startup.

What's the process you have to follow after replacing a battery in the Ghibli?

Hey im having the same exact problem. Did you find a fix for it and how
I'm now a part of the club. Just happened after returning from a 4 day trip leaving the ghibli in the garage. Went to start it and it just ticked and popped up "service power steering" on the screen.

I tried recharging the battery but the charger was basically done in 10 minutes so it was charged. I tried again and same thing. I tried jumping with my other car and did the same thing.

I under warranty so it's not a big deal but I've only had the car 2 months and this is worrisome. Anyone find out what the problem is?

Guys, try to stick the nose of the key fob on the start button and fire the car up by pressing the button with the key fob.

Transponder in the key, might not be registered.
