Honestly, it's probably been a month since i drove the car.. It sits in garage away from outside weather.

Decided to hit the FOB, Nothing!!
Tried to open door, nothing!
Removed the key from the FOB and insert it in the door, NOTHING

Now im absolutely confused. Is battery dead? Can i give it a slight jump? And how can i get back in car? Is this normal? Sorry, i have soo many questions. I tried google, but no one is locked out of their car. I dont recall having battery issues in January. Just that problem with the Climate control thingy..

Can anyone direct me. I'm praying i don't need a tow truck.

HELP! PLEASE!

Hi there,

So I assume you've checked the batteries on your fob and they are both working fine (you might just want to change the battery if you haven't just to rule out the fob). So what happens when you turn the key in the door barrel? Surely it must unlock the car? I have just tried mine and it opens with the key. I am in the UK and the key in on the driver's door which in my case is the right side. I had to turn the key clockwise to open it. So try both ways.
Other than that it becomes really tricky. The only way I can see is to take the front wheel off that is on the side that releases the front trunk and then the front part of the wheel arch liner. So should be able to then reach the outer cable of the trunk release. You'll have to pull that and hopefully it will be enough to release the trunk. If sucessfull, you can charge the battery from the terminals in the front. Let us know how you get on.

Initially, i didn't check the battery. I'm so used to cars telling me when their FOB is low on battery..
But i went ahead and swapped out the Nissan batteries for the Masi batteries. ( they are fairly new.)
Went back to Masi, NOTHING..
Went to Nissan, and works like a charm. Didn't give me a low battery alert either.
I tired the physical key again; still nothing. I cant imagine i was sold a car with a different key... This is crazy. (been almost 2 yrs)

So, looks like I'm going to be going under the car to to find the trunk release cable. I'll try to youtube some vids or pics so i can easily identify it when i get under there. Hopefully this will be a task for next weekend. The only explanation i can really see is that, the freeze might have made it give out?? IDK if that makes sense, because it is parked on the inside of a parking garage. Does this bad boy need climate controlled garages too?? lol

PS: I see online it says H8 battery. Does brand matter or not in these cars..??

I think you mentioned you have 2017 and had other electrical issues with the car. It could killed/shorted the battery or main fuse completely.

The US drivers side key hole should be mechanical. Turn to the right and it locks the door, turn to the left and it should open. Sometimes you need to pull on the handle simultaneously with turning to the left to disengage lock.
Note: without power the window will not drop from the weather stripping so the door window might still be stuck, but unlocked.
If you have another key fob, (the car came with two) try both keys. If someone lost a key fop and only had another reprogrammed they might not realize the manual key needs to be replaced.

Good Luck

Have you tried ALL the doors ?

Pretty messed up situation, but look forward to knowing what the cause was.

Hi there, I think your battery has died. You should be able to get a door open - preferably the rear so you can get through the rear seats into the boot. Once there you can work out if the battery is dead. With all the electronics on them, they are pretty hard on batteries, so don't panic about that. Just get yourself a trickle charger and keep some charge in it. My guess is it was on the way out.

Hi All,
Thanks for the responses. I have been at work and have not had time to get to car. Hopefully, if no bad weather is in the forecast, this Saturday, i plan on taking the wheel off.
Hopefully when i take the wheel-well liner off, the front hood release line would be easily accessible.
Thanks once again. I will update this post Saturday.. Makes me wonder if this is reason my Climate control stopped working.. Not going to bore you with details.: Climate Controller not working

Keep the car on a trickle charger that is what they do at the dealership.

Another quick question, just in case no one knows where this line is specifically.
Has anyone ever called one of these lock poper people to unlock a door, and did it work?

I’ve also thought of breaking front window. A salvaged window is $350. 🤦🏾‍♂️
I might as well get another hardware key made
Im going to have to probably put this stuff back, as i cant just leave it on a. Jack in a parking garage!

Yea, its time to sell the car now!!! 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️😫

Sorry, don't know which line, but suspect, not any of them.

I realize you're not having a great time right now with her, but hardly think getting rid of her is the best option.

You'll get it figured out, mand move thru it.

Yes, a locksmith will get you in. If I was there, 5 minutes and the door would be open, and I'm far from the best.

You think a dead battery on a Maserati is bad ? Try having two teenage girls who've started dating...

Yea, that was my frustration getting the best of me. I was just frustrated with the whole thing, and i have to remember to buy more plastic fasteners (lol) i broke a few of them taking the wheel-well covers off.

Anyway, yea.. Too bad you're not in Houston TX, that would've been a relief.
Went to Maserati Dealer here on i10, took my paperwork (legal stuff) to dealer with driver's license, and they couldn't order a key because they want the actual inked (stamped) paper. Unfortunately, covid was still a thing so i bought the car electronically. And the registration paper is in the car. So, that's a no to getting a new key.
He did inform me they used to use an airbag thing to pop doors open, but they don't offer that service any longer.

I finally called enough people, and someone said they would let me use their airbag tools for a small fee of $20. He didn't want to do it because he didn't want to be responsible for anything.
In the meantime, anyone have any tricks or tips i need to know before doing this? What's the easiest way.? I might try either tonight or tomorrow when there is more natural light.

Thank you everyone for the responses by the way.

I would be super careful with the airbag on a frameless window. Don't see that working out in a good way, and almost certainly feel you'll crack the glass. The guy that rented you his airbag knew this.

An automotive locksmith with any skill should be able to pick the lock manually, or he doesn't belong in business.

Alternatively, a slim Jim directly under the interior lock pin (part that goes up and down on top of the door) should be very easy to get to. Haven't tried it, as haven't needed to, but the design of the lock system is basic.

I've just read my manual and I can find zero reference to an external trunk release. There's one inside, and the other recommendation is to apply voltage to the points in the engine bay.

At this point (assuming you've tried penetrating oil in the key slot. Lack of use can make these things real sticky) is automotive locksmith. Or maybe risk breaking the glass. It's comparatively cheap. There's also a load of tutorials on Youtube etc using suction cups or tape to force the window down.

Good luck!
