Last night I drove into NYC from CT for a dinner in the West Village. Not wanting to leave the car parked on the street I had researched parking options in the area. Found a garage on Merton street where the following unfolded....
Attendant." Sorry sir we can't accept that car in the garage it's too expensive"
Me" but I see you take BMWs Audis and I even see a Porsche"
Attendant " we do,.......but this is a MASERATI "
Anyhow with few other options in the area I reverted to the age old method of persuasion.....a big tip! And the car was in but under caution.
Went to pick it up a couple of hours later and the supervisor is now on duty and not happy with the fact his junior colleague allowed the car in.
In this case " membership almost didn't have its privileges"
PostScript. The cost for 2 plus hours of covered parking 60dollars AND on the way back to the garage I saw a bianco alpi parked on the street, obviously the owner knew he would not be welcome in area garages.
