I thought I would start a thread where we mention features that may not be immediately noticeable when you get the car.

Here are a few...

1. Pressing the lower left corner of the GPS screen let you choose between arrival time, distance to arrival and a third option I forget.

2. Pressing the lower right corner of the GPS screen allows you to see various speed information.

3. Pressing the upper left corner where it show the next direction it will allow you to advance through the rest of the directions. Helpful if you want to know how the GPS is routing you.

4. Pressing the headlight switch will turn on the rear fog lights.

Anyone have anything else to add?

How about this one:

In "Player" mode while playing music from you IPod or other devise, press map button and you can have the music album cover, information and navigation map visible on the same screen.

push the directional indicator forward to engage the automatic high beam function

I noticed something new yesterday while driving in manual mode. If I am at cruising speed and the engine speed creeps above about 2200 rpm, the word shift appears with a flashing triangle appears. It is located next to the right paddle graphic in the center info screen.

I'm not sure of the purpose. It is too small and unobtrusive to be a shift light.

I was under the impression that this is when the computer calculates it's time for an upshift in gears, so it puts the message there to suggest that you can upshift. When driving manual, I go more by the feel and gradient of the road that I'm driving to determine when to upshift.

Here's another...You can adjust the distance of the brake and accelerator pedals by pushing a button on the vertical part of the lower seat in between the driver's legs (and it will save to your memory settings)

When in Sport and Manual Mode, shift indicators by the gear indicator tell you when to shift. However, it's shift recommendations are way too conservative to be "Sport", typically asking you to shift at 3000 rpms.

Hm interesting if you wanna drive with the heel-toe technique although I don't know if thats possible with automatic gears... (the ghibli will be my first automatic gear car , I hope I can still drive with heel-toe since i'm used to do it that way)

Here's a feature that we already know about, but want to teach non-Ghibli owners. I use the plastic tab inside the trunk to pull the lid shut. Non owners will push the trunk lid down with their hands thereby getting greasy fingerprints all over your paintwork.

but what is that?
MTC settings
- Control Screen timeout; what does it mean? I tried on/off but cannot see any difference
- Auto-On Comfort & Remote Start; I have one checkbox, what shall happen? I have seat heating but when I unlock the car, nothing happens. I expect it would heat the seat (at least when I start the engine) and could also expect, that the engine get's started when I unlock the car. None of that happens.

Has anyone noticed that the Navigation system sometimes takes time to load? I noticed twice now that when I start up the car all MTC systems start but once Ina while to. Navigation part takes a minute or so to load. Is this normal or a software glitch?

Thanks
Steve

I have the standard car audio system. The sound of this seems to improve quite a bit with use.

I have also discovered that it improves further if you move the fader point slightly to the rear. This seems to be because there are tweeters at the front edges of the rear doors and by moving the fader back a little these become more prominent to those in the front seats. The speakers balance out better. Give it a try.

I have the same thing occassionally ... it almost looks like it is "thinking" while loading the software or delay in connecting to the vehicle location. There is no pattern that I can determine. Sadly it is not doing an automatic update ... like a home computer ... all those updates need to be done by the dealer and our Garmin map data isn't due for an upgrade until next year, (according to the dealer).

Get this sometimes. Seems almost random. Sometimes it starts right away other times it takes a while before it comes up. Wondering if this is to do with getting satellite locks?
