100 years, seems like it was only yesterday... ;)

For their centenary Maserati has gathered what seems like ALL their cars under one roof.

Maserati has what can only be called an enigmatic design lineage. The back catalogue boats an impressive medley of ALL the big names of postwar Italian car design, and a some small ones as well. Bertone, Zagato, Pininfarina, rattle off the list and they're likely present and accounted for. What makes this collection particularly interesting is that most of the cars look nothing like each other. Stroll through the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and there is a clear design evolution, you can tell the vehicles were kin. The result of Enzo's involvement from inception to his death.

Maserati is a little different however, never quite finding a place to call their own (until 1993 of course), the Orsi family piloted Maserati to the majority of their racing successes after the Maserati brothers sold the firm (but continued in engineering roles), Citroen had a go at running the show but found themselves bankrupt, Maserati as well. De Tomaso arranged to buy MAserati from Citroen using Benelli which left us with the Maserati's of the 80's. It wasn't until Ferrari took a control in 1999 that we see Maserati making its way back to former glory. Now with MAserati being merged with Alfa Romeo (kind of) who knows what exactly will come next? Alfieri and Levante that much we know, I just hope they keep up the "character"...

Their cars have at times been radical and at others just so elegant e.g. I looked at buying the previous QP GTS (before the market tanked last
) but my favorite is the Aston Martin 'cousin' on the right in the 2nd picture.

Either they way they have 'style' in addition to that exhaust note.

Just about all the cars featured at the museum have appeared at the Maserati Owner's National Meet at Le Belle Macchine: Pocono.

Here is a photo from this year's event.
